  9/30/22 Hello Quest families!! Blue Folders - Students all should have a blue folder that stays in their backpacks.  We use these folders to send home any important information/forms. Math -  We have started the second part of our unit by learning about surface area.  Students have been building, naming, and finding the surface area of 3-D shapes.  There is a lot of vocabulary in this unit, so we have been writing definitions in our notebooks.  We got our first quizzes back and made revisions. Language Arts - We created Word Art for the biographies we are reading.  Students chose main ideas and then weighted them by which ones were most important to the central idea of their book.  We learned vocabulary words from our Flocabulary program, and worked with contractions and soft g for spelling.  Students are starting to differentiate their learning.  Some are working out of workbooks, while others are working on the computer.  Some are doubling up on spelling, while others are working

  9/16/22 Hello Quest families!! Blue Folders - Students all should have a blue folder that stays in their backpacks.  We use these folders to send home any important information/forms. Math - We are well on our way to learning how to find the area of shapes other than rectangles.  Students worked together to find areas of parallelograms and started to find the areas of triangles.  We continue to focus on our group work skills and how to take risks when problem solving. Next week we will have our first Math quiz on finding the area of parallelograms and triangles.   Language Arts - We are reading biographies for our first book group.  Students have read, looking for formative people in our biographies, for vocabulary, and history of the time period.  Our book groups have started out really well.  If you are interested in seeing a calendar of pages due, please go to the Quest Website (Language Arts), or ask your student to look at their Google Classroom.  Students are also studying spe

  Welcome back Quest families!! We had a great start to our 6th grade school year.  Our goals were to connect with classmates, set expectations, and have fun and we did all of the above.  Last Thursday and Friday, we worked on math and LA activities.  This week we will start all of our core classes.  Students will have math and language arts in the morning, and after lunch will have science or social studies.  If they are in science, they will have Mrs. Williams for 6 weeks and then switch to social studies with Mr. Taylor.  If they are in social studies, they will have Mr. Taylor for 6 weeks and then switch to science with Mrs. Williams. School Supplies - In an effort to create more space in backpacks, students are only asked to keep the following items in their backpacks:  pencils, headphones, a reading book, and a blue home folder that we gave them.  All other notebooks and folders can be kept in the classroom.
