Hello Quest families!!

VTCAP Testing - All students will be taking state standardized tests the week of May 8th.  These tests will take place in the morning, so please make sure your student is at school on time.  We have dedicated Monday-Thursday to these tests with Friday as our make-up day.

Boston Field Trip - Our big 6th grade trip to Boston is right around the corner.  Here are the details of the trip.  Please reach out if you have any questions.

Math - We started this week reviewing the learning that happened before April break around negative numbers.  Students learned about opposites and absolute value.  On Tuesday, they took a quiz and made revisions on Wednesday.  We are now learning about negative numbers on graphs and how to graph inequalities.

Language Arts - .We started our final book groups for the year.  There were many, many choices!  Students narrowed it down to: Call it Courage by Armstrong Sperry, Small Spaces by Katherine Arden, Chirp by Kate Messner, Wake Up Missing by Kate Messner, Framed by James Ponti, Everything Sad is Untrue by Daniel Nayeri, and The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle.  Students are working on their reading, spelling, vocabulary, and small group skills throughout this unit.

Science - Our groups switched after the April break.  We started our study of fossils.  We will continue through sedimentary rocks and the fossil record.  We will end our year with a short study of insects.

Social Studies - Our new social studies group started a unit on ancient civilizations.  We are starting to learn about Mesopotamia and the important attributes of this civilization.  During our social studies blocks, students are also learning about the geography of Canada and the location of provinces and territories.  Each week, students do comprehension activities around current events.
